A NEW life-saving helicopter was unveiled at an event celebrating 20 years of the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

On Sunday at Audley End House, Saffron Walden, the charity unveiled their newly branded fleet, including a brand new helicopter.

The new Agusta Westland 169 helicopter and two rapid response vehicles will help crews continue their lifesaving work across Essex.

Thousands of supporters of the charity came along to enjoy the family fun of the celebration event.

Attractions included a helicopter simulator, a vintage car display, a bird display and a range of artisan food stands.

Jen Wall, events and volunteer manager for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, said: “A huge thank you goes to the staff of English Heritage and Audley End House and Gardens for helping us to host this very special event.

"We also wouldn’t be able to put on the event without the help of our sponsors: Specialist Aviation Services, Leonardo Helicopters and SVC. As well as working very closely with sponsors, our media partners for this event, Heart Essex, Newsquest and BBC Essex, have been able to raise awareness of the Charity and our very special day.”

The charity has also worked with a agency to create a united brand for all its air ambulances, as opposed to two different designs.

The helicopter will now depart on a promotional tour of the two counties before going into service.

You can follow the helicopter's progress at www.helitour.ehaat.org.

The helicopter is visiting The Five Bells, Colne Engaine, on Saturday between 3.30pm and 4.30pm and will be at The Victory in Wickham St Paul between noon and 1pm on Sunday.
