A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.
The cyclist, a man aged 31, was involved in the crash this morning in Chelmer Road, Braintree.
The East of England Ambulance Service received a call at 7.39am.
A spokesman said: "We sent an ambulance crew and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.
"The man was conscious and breathing and treated for a leg injury before being taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care."
Update 3.20pm: Essex Police confirmed reports of the incident were received shortly after 7.30am today.
It was reported a car and a cyclist were involved.
The cyclist, a 31-year-old man, was taken to Broomfield Hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Inquiries are ongoing.
