THE most famous export of Britain’s 70s pub rock scene are performing a home county gig at Witham Public Hall.

Dr Feelgood, the band that formed on Canvey Island in 1971, are bringing their latest tour to the public hall, in Collingwood Road, on Friday, June 2.

The band remain one of the most popular and exciting rhythm and blues acts in the world.

Whilst not original members, the currently line-up features Kevin Morris on drums and Phil Mitchell on bass, both of whom have been playing with the band for more than 33 years.

Making up the line-up is Steve Walwyn on guitar, a veteran of 26 years, and Robert Kane, a former member of the Animals, who joined in 1999.

The band became hugely popular during the 70s when they had a raft of singles hits including She Does It Right, Roxette and Back in the Night.

Iconic guitarist Wilko Johnson’s choppy guitar style was the one of the defining sounds of pub rock the scene, which went on to be a huge influence on the punk explosion in Britain.

Doors for the show open at 7.30pm, with the performance starting at 8.30pm.
