New link roads to be protected from housing
ROAD networks in the district are being protected from development.
Braintree Council’s draft Local Plan highlights road infrastructure to be included and safeguarded from housing.
A link from Springwood Drive to Panfield Lane in Braintree is featured, as well as a link from Cut Throat Lane to Albert Road in Witham, a link from Witham station car park to Station Road, and a link from Inworth Road to the A12 at Kelvedon.
The Springwood Drive link is subject to planning permission being granted.
Work would start next year and the road could open in 2019.
The report said: “Another support comment for the Panfield Lane link suggested a vision for a ‘northern’ bypass should be established to join the A131.”
