A COUPLE claimed top spot on a top TV show after serving up some tasty chicken Kievs — with a side order of muscles.

Lewis Caruth, 29, and Krystal Noble, 31, of Halstead, starred in Monday night’s Couples Come Dine with Me.

After impressing their fellow contestants with some tasty treats, not to mention Lewis’ physique gaining more than a little attention from their rival couples, they were awarded first place and £1,000.

The hit Channel 4 show sees three couples play host to each other, cooking a three course meal for their fellow guests, and then rating the evening out of ten.

Lewis said: “I can cook and then Krystal thought it would be a good way to get on TV, so she put the application in.

“They came round, spoke to us for a bit, and obviously quite liked the way we are together.”

The couple have been together four years and both grew up in the area with Lewis attending Hedingham School and Krystal going to Ramsey Academy.

With Lewis in charge of cooking, he whipped up prawns for starters, followed by chicken Kievs, before apple tart to finish.

Although the food went down well, at one point the other two couples started arguing while Lewis and Krystal sat awkwardly in the middle.

Lewis said: “It was cringey to watch, really cringey, but I do see it as quite positive and quite an achievement.

“I think us winning probably came down to a combination of the cooking and our personalities.

“The other couples were fighting and we just left them to it and tried to relax and enjoy it.

“It has been funny to see the reaction online, a lot of people have been saying the right people won, then there have been people saying Krystal is really clingy because she kept asking for kisses and cuddles.

“But we are quite like that anyway, and that is the way the producers asked us to be, we just tried to relax and be ourselves.”

Filmed nine months ago, Krystal was heavily pregnant, and on Monday the couple sat down to watch with eight-month-old Brooklynn.

Lewis added: “It was highly strange on Monday night.

“Seeing ourselves on TV is one thing, but to be sitting there with our daughter while watching Krystal pregnant on the TV was something else.”
