MILITARY history will come to life during one of the most exciting events in the district’s calendar.

Temple at War is returning for the third time on May 13 and 14 at its historic Cressing Temple Barns venue.

The show brings together more than 900 re-enactors and displays include everything from the First World War through to modern warfare.

For Glenn Caton, one of the organisers, the show has always been a family affair.

He said: “My son Tom was a re-enactor and used to go to shows around the country.

“He came home one day and said to us that with the skills we have in the family we could do a good job of running our own.

“We started the show two years ago and it has gone from strength to strength since.”

This year’s event looks set to pack more family friendly entertainment and historical revelry than ever before.

There’s a centre stage with a jam-packed line-up of 40s song and dance performers, a flyover from the Battle of Britain Hurricanes on the Saturday, and of course a massive battle re-enactment on both days.

All this and much more has seen Temple at War become one of the biggest and best historical shows across the UK.

Mr Caton said: “We are starting to get noticed on the circuit. This year we have been selling tickets so fast and they are being bought all over the country.

“Most importantly, we run the show so that it is a good experience for the public.

“We are really excited more than anything, it takes a year’s worth of planning so when it comes we are looking forward to it.”

Adult tickets cost £10.50 in advance, or £12.50 on the day. Children cost £5.50 in advance or £7.50 on the day.

Family tickets are also available for £28.50 in advance or £36 on the day.
