A BOY is set to undergo therapy for his brain injury thanks to a £1,000 cash boost.

Tyler-James Claydon, from Witham, was born with a respiratory distress syndrome which left him with a brain injury called HIE.

The five-year-old has since been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, a sensory processing disorder and a sleep disorder.

His parents, Kerry and James, from Blott Rise, can now pursue therapy thanks to a donation from housebuilder Persimmon Homes Essex.

Mrs Claydon said: “Receiving this generous donation means we can continue to support our amazing little boy.

“Tyler’s birth was a difficult time for us, as we didn’t know if he would survive the first couple of days.

“As a result of his birth he was diagnosed with disabilities that make his life challenging on a daily basis.

“We are trying our very best to fundraise within the community, with events being held throughout the year - I’m even planning a skydive.

“We’re so thankful to Persimmon for such a kind donation towards Tyler’s therapy, which will help make his life a little easier.”

Philip Standen, managing director for Persimmon Homes Essex, said Tyler's cause was a worthy one.

He said: “Tyler is such a strong little boy that is fighting adversity and we’re thrilled to be able to support him.

“Our scheme gives charities and community groups from across Essex the chance to apply for up to £1,000 of funding.

"It has been a hugely successful initiative which has allowed us to support more than 20 good causes already."
