A LOST dog has been reunited with her owners with the help of her furry friend.

Minnie, a whippet and lurcher cross, moved in with her owners Trevor and Phil Anthony-Jones on April 7.

The couple, from Brain Road in Witham, said she slipped out of her harness on Sunday at about 4.45pm- two days after they rehomed her.

After days of searching Wallace Kennels, where she was rescued, got involved.

Dee Robinson, from the kennels in Brentwood said: "Melvin, renamed Merlin, a collie cross lurcher, was found with Minnie.

"A friend of mine said she was going to go to Witham and look for Minnie so she collected Merlin and they followed the whole route that Minnie had walked.

"He left a scent for her to follow."

Minnie's owner, Trevor, said she had been wearing a harness around her chest but managed to slip out and bolt away.

He was thrilled that with the help of Merlin at Wallace Kennels she was found on Thursday, April 13.

He said: "A dog was found with her when she was first abandoned near Margaretting and they brought him up and walked along the river walk in Witham to Hatfield Peverel and back.

"The next day we got a call from a woman who had found her in her garden in Powers Hall End.

"She was trying to make her way home and we think the scent trail could have helped her."

Merlin is still looking for a home, and anyone interested should contact the kennels on 01277 821032.
