TICKETS are sure to go fast for one of the biggest social events in Braintree’s calendar.

The Semi-Dangerous Sporting Man’s Club of Braintree (Sdsmc) are renowned for their outstanding fundraising events, and in particular their legendary Mid-Summer Ball.

An annual event, it takes place at The Fennes, Bocking, and has raised astronomical amounts of money for charity over the years.

This year the group has decided to include a new charity along with their old favourite Essex Air Ambulance.

Sharing the spoils of the extremely well attended event will be The Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens Trust.

A spokesman for Sdsmc said: “The public gardens is a place of complete tranquillity in the middle of the very busy town of Braintree, is a place that must be preserved for future generations.

“The gardens are completely funded by donations given by local companies and individuals and always need help to keep the gardens open so people can enjoy the facilities.

“Essex Air Ambulance need no introductions from us, as we all know of the excellent work they perform, but once again it’s another service that is run on a charitable basis with no help from government or local councils.

“We hope by having our Mid-Summer Ball we can raise funds to help both these organisations prosper.”

Cover Up Band and DJ Rob Rider will provide the soundtrack to the night,

Other highlights include a casino, auction and a wine festival.

Tickets for the Friday June, 16, event are available now and cost £75 per person, which includes a three course meal.

If you can help by providing a raffle prize or sponsoring the event then the organisers want to hear from you.
