A HUSBAND fears someone could be seriously injured on a dangerous road after his wife narrowly avoided an accident.
Tracey Wenlock was travelling towards Witham from the A12 on Sunday morning.
She had right of way down Oak Road in Rivenhall, when a white van came towards her.
Her husband, David Grist, said: “A large white van, about the size of a Transit van, was coming from the Witham direction and drove without stopping through the bridge.
“My wife was at the entrance to the tunnel and stopped, the van continued driving with no let up in speed, at this point my wife put the car into reverse to avoid a head-on collision.
“She hit the car behind her, the van did then come to a halt.
“Whilst the van did not hit any vehicle it was his action that caused my wife to take evasive action, thus resulting in the impact with the other vehicle.”
Mrs Wenlock was not injured, but the couple wanted to raise awareness.
Mr Grist said: “I think it’s only time before someone is seriously injured or worse.”
