AN AMBULANCE service has stressed the importance of learning first aid following yesterday's incident in Westminster.

Sue Killen, CEO of St John Ambulance, said: “Our thoughts go to those affected by yesterday’s incident in Westminster.

"It is encouraging to see the efforts of passers-by who gave first aid, working alongside the emergency services, to offer care and comfort to those who needed it. It’s moments like this when having life saving skills can make all the difference.

“We welcome today’s discussion between the Prime Minister and James Heappey MP regarding the importance of learning first aid – it’s such a simple skill but has an incredible impact.”

The subject of first aid was discussed in the House of Commons this morning.

Four people were killed and dozens injured when a man drove through pedestrians in Westminster before launching a knife attack.
