A BRIDGE in Rayne has been closed for emergency repairs.
Rayne Bridge, on Gore Road, Rayne, has been closed until further notice after it was severely damage in a crash on Saturday March 18.
No vehicle access is permitted until repairs can be completed by Essex Highways.
The section of the Flitch Way beneath the bridge has also been shut for safety reasons.
A spokesman for Essex Highways said: “Initial inspections show extensive damage has been caused to the bridge parapets which will require reconstruction.
“The Flitch Way which passes under Rayne Bridge has been closed due to the risk to public safety however pedestrian access is available over Rayne Bridge.
“We will update the public as soon information is available regarding the bridge repairs.”
