A BAND leading the British country music boom will perform a summer concert at a racecourse later this year.

The Shires, whose debut album Brave became the first British country album to break into the top ten, will be taking to the stage at Chelmsford City Racecourse in July.

The band, made up of duo Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes, have been at the forefront of the British country music scene.

The Home Counties pair, who have also had success in Australia and New Zealand, will be performing some of their best known hits including State Lines and All Over Again on July 7.

They will play live after an evening of racing at the course in Great Leighs.
