BUDDING songwriters have got the chance to take part in a competition to win a recording session.

The Acoustic Lounge, which runs its monthly music project from the Swan Pub in Bank Street, Braintree, is running the contest.

The team support musicians and songwriters to develop their work every second Thursday from the pub.

In the past two years they have held monthly gigs and set up a one day summer festival to give artists opportunities to try out new work and network with other musicians.

The competition is free to enter and open to all.

Artists can enter up to three songs, including collaborations, by April 7.

Those shortlisted will then be invited to perform their song acoustically at a special Acoustic Lounge session on April 29 at the Swan.

The winner of the audience prize will receive a half day professional recording session with Cris Ramos productions to create their own short EP.

A second judges prize will see the winner receive a half day professional recording session with Manor Studios Essex to create their own short EP.

The Acoustic Lounge Project was set up in January 2015 to support musicians and raise money and awareness for good causes. People can find out more and how to enter at alfiejamesproductions.com.
