A SCHOOL could be turning into an academy to provide a better learning experience for pupils.

Silver End Primary School, in School Road, said in a newsletter to parents they were considering the possibility.

The letter was from David Wheare, chair of governors, and was distributed to parents last month.

It said the school could be an academy from September 1.

It said: "We will be starting a consultation period with all parents, carers, staff and friends on this proposal.

"The governing board has spent a lot of time gathering information and advice on the benefits of joining with a Multi Academy Trust."

They said the best option is to consider joining the Connected Learning Multi Academy Trust, led from Powers Hall Academy in Witham.

The letter said: "We are confident that being part of a larger teaching and learning organisation will enable us to develop teaching and broaden the curriculum for our pupils, provide greater leadership and development opportunities for staff, and be more efficient and better utilise financial and other

resources.

"We are convinced that, through these opportunities, we will be able to provide the best possible learning experience for our pupils."

The school, last inspected by Ofsted in July 2015, was rated good overall.

Parents can meet staff from 2pm on Wednesday, March 1, at the school if they have any questions.

The school has been contacted for comment.
