A CHARITY is searching for a patron after moving to its new home.

Having just moved to its new premises opposite the fountain in St Michael's Road, Braintree Youth Project Charity (BYPC) is looking for a new patron to help its young people.

The new premises, which has the same name as the old one, The Hut, is in the midst of a refurbishment and has an office, lounge, education room, courtyard and lots of space for youth activities of different kinds.

Chair of the charity, Nigel Warner, said: “We are entering a new phase in the life of the charity and we want a new patron to go with it.

"We are looking for a person who is well known, fairly local and interested in helping an amazing youth charity to do amazing things.

"The role is not difficult and it is a simple way for the right person to offer invaluable support to the young people of the Braintree area.

"We have lots of exciting plans for the future, but really need a figurehead to help raise our profile as a well-loved charity in the area.

"Please get in touch if you have an idea, or pass our details on to your friend.

"We really want to hear suggestions from all sorts and get the people of the area involved in the process."

BYPC, founded in 2010, offers young people in the Braintree area a caring and safe place to congregate and have fun, where they are respected, valued and offered opportunities.

It runs sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday when young people are able to have fun, be safe, keep warm and take part in all sorts of activities.

Jo Fish, centre manager, said: “Any young people are welcome to our sessions and even to drop in for tea and toast at other times.

"We are always willing to give them time and just want to see young people flourish and be able to make the most of their opportunities.”
