POLICE officers performed CPR on a man who had gone into cardiac arrest on a busy road.
The East of England Ambulance Service received a call at 4.49pm last night to reports of a man in his 60s who had collapsed and gone into cardiac arrest on the A120 near Dunmow.
Police officers who came across the patient started CPR while an ambulance - which was on scene in seven minutes - two rapid response vehicles, the Essex Air Ambulance critical care team, two ambulance officers and a community first responder were despatched.
The patient was treated at the scene before being taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital by ambulance.
