BRAINTREE’S famous doppelgangers are set to make their television debut.

Retired priest Neil Richardson, 70, and former head teacher John Jemison, 75, will appear on Wednesday’s Channel 4 documentary Finding My Twin Stranger.

They met in 2013, after Neil moved to Braintree and was shocked to find himself being called John by strangers in the street.

Both were attending a Friends of Braintree Museum trip to London and soon found they shared several similar interests and have now become close friends.

The duo took part in a study back in September at London’s St Thomas Hospital, where they were found to be the most convincing lookalike strangers in the country.

Scientists conducted studies, took photographs, produced 3D models of the duo and found that there was around 90% similarity in their facial features.

A documentary shows the findings of the study as seven doppelganger duos are examined for the program.

Finding My Twin Stranger airs on All 4 next Wednesday at 10pm.
