THE DIRECTORS of a business who had their offices destroyed in a fire have been told it is not safe to work there.

SSE scaffolding was one of the businesses affected by a blaze which took out three units on Banters Lane Business Park.

The fire in Great Leighs started on Friday night and about 70 firefighters worked through the night to put it out.

It destroyed warehouses belonging to Sports Innovation, flooring contractors White and White, and a door company.

Stella Curry, director at SSE Scaffolding, said their entire office was burnt down.

She and her husband Tony are now appealing for help to find another space to work from as surveyors said it was not safe.

Mrs Curry, who has worked on the site for two years, said: "All the other warehouses are completely on the ground.

"Our offices have gone so we have lost all our computers and stationary- we are currently working from home.

"We have absolutely nothing, we are trying to look for more office space."

The couple are also looking for computers, desks, chairs and other office equipment to replace what was lost in the fire.

Mrs Curry had just got back from a holiday in Tenerife the same night the fire broke out.

She was contacted by the landlord of the Dog and Partridge pub opposite who said the warehouses were alight.

She said: "The fire service did amazingly, we are in a bad position but at least no one was hurt.

"The devastation upstairs in the office is just mental.

"I was in pieces, you don't realise how much work you put in to a building, it was hideous."

They do not yet know how long they have to vacate the premises, and are urgently looking to find a space big enough to keep lorries and trailers in.

Anyone able to help the couple can contact them on 01376 754000 or visit their Facebook page.
