A TEENAGE boy has been flown to hospital in a serious condition following a crash.

Delays are expected in the area as a 15-year-old boy is flown to hospital with a serious head injury.

Rayne Road in Braintree is partially blocked between Francis Road and Pods Brook Road outside the BP garage, following a serious incident at 8.15am this morning.

Witness Emily Howard said: "I was stuck in traffic while all the ambulance came up and blocked the road.

"You can't get through at all, I think they are doing a bit of forensic work.

"I was on my way to work when I happened, but I went into Lidl to wait while it was all going on.

"There was someone on the floor and I think there may have been a child involved."

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We received reports of an RTC to which we sent two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance crew, hazardous area response team, and an air ambulance from the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust.

"At the scene a teenage boy was treated for a serious head injury before being airlifted to The Royal London Hospital in a serious condition."
