A FASHION designer will present her new collection during a charity show.

Braintree College and Hertfordshire University graduate Amy Brooks will be showcasing her spring/summer 2017 collection next Saturday.

The evening, taking place at Braintree Town Hall, will support the two chosen charities of Braintree Council's chairman, Frankie Ricci.

Miss Brooks, 24, of Megs Way, left university with a first class degree and has been spending her time designing bespoke pieces for customers.

She said: "Before university where I did a national diploma in art and design. Because they could do a bit of everything I started off with ceramics and then textiles - I have always had a lot of creativity.

"I've got three other girls showing their pieces, one is a shoe designer, one does leather bags and one has a fantastic stall at Braintree market every Saturday - Ruddymarvellous, Lasting Memories Creations and MIA Accessories.

"They need an opportunity to do work and somewhere to do it all and I thought I would go to Braintree Town Hall because it's a nice venue.

"It was then that I was asked if I had considered getting the chairman involved.

"I do want to get somewhere with my business and get others involved too. It's not just a fashion show for myself, it's for the community."

Money raised will go to the chairman's chosen charities - Essex Search and Rescue and Witham, Halstead and Braintree Home Start.

The show, which runs from 6pm to 9pm, will start off with a complimentary drink before a catwalk show at 6.45pm.

"On the day there will be a complimentary drinks for everyone who bought a ticket and a chance to have a bit of a mingle. I'll be making a speech in the evening and the chairman will to.

"There will be a raffle after with the proceeds going to charities.

"I'll be showing my spring/summer collection for next year with all my different designs. I've created the fabrics and made the clothes, I use a lot of floral on my designs and I've called the night Making it Happen because I believe in trying to do that."
