A DAD who punched above his weight to raise money for Cancer Research is thrilled to have won the fight.
Rob Phelps, of Church Road in Rivenhall, fought in his first ever boxing match to raise funds.
He lost his nan to bladder cancer in 2005 and his mum Vicky was diagnosed with kidney cancer two years ago.
He won the Ultra White Collar Boxing match against his opponent Simon 'The Rhino' Cockerill from Chelmsford.
Mr Phelps, 40, who has a wife and three children, managed to raise £2,150 alongside his opponent.
After three rounds he was crowned champion.
He said: "The event was unbelievable, as a whole group we have raised more than £5,470.
"I was top fundraiser on the night too.
"I had over 20 guests attend on the night and my opponent Simon much the same. The support has been amazing.
"The whole UWCB experience is quite possibly the best thing I've ever done.
"I'm so proud of the money we raised and of how it will be spent. Together, we will beat cancer."
The event is a unique opportunity for people with no boxing background to experience it and raise money for charity.
It took place at Evoke nightclub in Chelmsford on September 11.
