JOB seekers will be given a helping hand at Braintree Council's second ever jobs fair.

The event, which is organised by the council and the Braintree Job Centre, will take place at Causeway House in Bocking End, Braintree on September 23.

Local employers including the NHS, Bureau Veritas Commodities and representatives from businesses at Stansted Airport will be on hand to provide advice and support to job hunters.

Children's charity 4children will also be on hand to help parents who are getting ready to return to work.

Councillor Tom Cunningham, cabinet member in charge of economic development, said: “Unemployment in the district is very low but we wanted to hold this event again after the success of the first fair we held earlier in the year.

"We have some great businesses in our district which have good opportunities for our residents and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone from those who want to change careers, to young people just starting out and parents who are returning to work after having families.”

Stuart Brown, Department for Work and Pensions operations manager for mid Essex Jobcentres, said: “I’m very pleased that the continued partnership between Braintree District Council & DWP has enabled us to support the jobs fair, bringing together local jobseekers with a variety of local employers.

"With record employment rates in the East of England, it is important that we as local partners collaborate to provide opportunities for our citizens to enjoy a fulfilling life through work and the benefits this brings as well as supporting our local businesses grow.”

The fair will be open from 10am until 3pm at Causeway House.
