A MUM says she has reached the end of her tether trying to get the right medical help for her nine month old daughter.

Samantha Gibbins, 30 from Chaucer Crescent in Braintree, has been taking her daughter to Blandford Medical Centre with an unknown skin condition since she was two months old.

She said: “All the doctors do is give her cream to try and clear it. They say a specialist won’t see her as she is too young.

“The creams have helped clearing it up but it is not helping with the itching.

“When it is warm she has to stay covered up. She is definitely in pain at times.

“We have been through so many creams and she reacts to everything.”

Samantha was told by a doctor at Broomfield Hospital’s Accident and Emergency department that the problem could be a form of eczema but so far nobody has been able to confirm what is wrong.

She now wants her daughter to be referred to a dermatologist regardless of her age.

She said: “I’ve been fighting for something to be done about her skin. The only reason I got referred to a paediatrician is because of me going to A and E because I couldn’t get an appointment at my doctors.

“All they have to do is look at Olivia’s medical records and they will see how long I’ve been fighting for.

“It makes me feel angry, upset and let down.

“It makes me feel like a failure as a mum at times because I can’t take the pain away from her – I have sleepless nights about it.”

A spokesman for Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group said: “We have spoken with the practice and are aware that this patient is currently under the review of the paediatric specialist team.

“We would encourage patients to talk to their practice in the first instance if they are unhappy or they can contact the CCG’s PALS team – contact details are on our website www.midessexccg.nhs.uk.”
