Police are looking for two men after one wandered into a house uninvited and claimed to be a gardener.
The victims were at home at about 3.40pm on June 15 Rickstones Road, Rivenhall, when an unknown man entered through an unlocked door.
When challenged, he said he was there to do gardening work.
One of the victims took him outside to speak to him and a dark car, similar to a Volkwagen Scirrocco, stopped outside the house.
The driver was described as a man aged in his mid 20s, with black hair, of stocky build and wearing a red T-shirt with a logo, possibly a black eagle.
The first man got into the car and left.
Anyone who recognises the man pictured, or the driver, is asked to call Pc Red Leeson at Braintree CID on 101.
