PRIMARY school pupils showcased their creative streaks at their end of year performing arts festival.

The second annual event took place at Notley Green Primary School on July 20.

This year all of the children were involved in a performance poetry piece, a musical piece, a dance, the school choir sang songs and there were instrument recitals.

Topics of some of the original poetry included, how it felt for the year six leavers to be moving on and what it would be like to live in the Brazilian Favelas.

Parents were invited to watch the mornings events and some were even in tears as students performed a rousing rendition of Nessun Dorma.

Claire Russell, Head of School, said: "It was a morning to celebrate the value of the arts and what they can offer children.

"We have had lots of great feedback to say how wonderful it was.

"Performing arts are absolutely vital, we really value them.

"We value the confidence it can bring to children and the self esteem particularly if they are not academic - we want to develop all of the talents of the children."
