THOSE out for a laugh are in for a treat at the Braintree Arts Theatre on Friday as TV and radio comedian Alfie Moore takes to the stage.

He will be headlining the second of the theatre’s monthly Funhouse Comedy nights on July 29.

Mr Moore, who is a former police sergeant from Humberside, has appeared on ITV’s ‘Show Me The Funny’, BBC3’s Bizarre Crime, The Wright Stuff, Sky News and BBC Look North.

He has also performed regularly at the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival where one of his jokes was voted the third best in Dave’s Funniest Joke of The Fringe competition.

Though he came slightly later to comedy than some, he brings a wealth of insights and comedy moments from his eighteen years on the beat, where he says a keen sense of humour was the key to his survival.

The second series of his BBC Radio 4 comedy series, It’s A Fair Cop, in which he discusses a wealth of case studies, has recently aired on the radio station to delighted audiences.

Supporting on the night is comedian, writer and presenter Rob Heeney, from the Isle of Man.

Mr Heeney, who is a former chemical physicist, systems analyst and even international tennis table player, naturally engages with his audiences whilst he mischievously relates his stories and observations on life.

Completing the star studded line-up will be the energetic and instantly likeable Scottish Comedian of the Year for 2011, Jamie Dalgleish.

Since starting out in 2010, Mr Dalgleish has performed hundreds of gigs around the UK and is another favourite of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

With the enviable job of compere on the night is Steve N Allen, who will be providing witty anecdotes throughout to keep the audience entertained between performers.

Tickets are priced at a bargain £10 if booked in advance through the website or in person at the theatre.

Doors open at 7pm and the event kicks off at 8pm.
