The Welsh star had been booked to perform at Cheslmford City Racecourse, originally known as Great Leighs Racecourse, tonight.

However the gig has been postponed until next year due to the "overwhelming success of Friday night."

Taking to Twitter Katherine Jenkins said: "Very disappointed that Chelmsford Racecourse has been postponed til next year.

"Unfortunately this one is completely out of my hands and I believe an official statement will follow shortly, explaining refunds etc.

"Thank you for all your well wishes - you really are the most loving, wonderful people - I'm better, rested and was ready to sing for you!

"Cwtches [Welsh for hugs] all round, Katherine xxx"

A spokesman for the racecourse said: "The three day event was due to start on Thursday night but the overwhelming success of Friday night meant that the increase in production for a bigger stage, etc, did not fit with the production requirements for Katherine Jenkins."

A spokesman for Katherine Jenkins' production team said" "All the VIP hospitality, pre concert dining and premium viewing seats were all sold for Katherine but once the Friday night was such a success, we could not add more because of the set up for the Friday.

"Rather than disappoint Katherine’s fans we decided to postpone the concert, refund everyone and offer them priority booking for a stand alone concert which Katherine will do at the racecourse in 2017."
