THOUSANDS of people witnessed heavy horses, birds of prey and a host of other attractions at Marks Hall this weekend.

The second bi-annual Marks Hall Country and Garden Show ran over two days, and money raised was distributed between Essex Air Ambulance, Colchester Rotary Club charities and the Marks Hall Estate.

The weekend started on Friday evening with a Gala Opening before a plethora of activities took place over the weekend, including a classic car rally, animal shows and rides, all set among the hall’s stunning grounds.

Ann Reeves, honorary secretary at the Rotary Club of Colchester, said: “By Saturday lunchtime we had more people through the gate paying than had visited the whole show last time.

“They were queueing to get in from before the show actually opened and a constant queue for much of the day.”

She said people leaving had called it the best show around, with so much to see and do.
