A DISABLED Iraq war veteran took part in a commemorative service to support troops.

Chris Baker, from Coggeshall, was blown up and shot at in Iraq 11 years ago and was discharged from the Army in 2010, unable to walk due to a spinal cord injury.

He attended a service at Braintree Town Hall to celebrate the work the Armed Forces does.

His dad, Mick, said: "Members of the Braintree Royal British Legion were there as well as members of the council and MP James Cleverly.

"A speech was read out about all the work the Armed Forces have done over the years.

"Next year we are hoping to make it a much bigger event. It was a very successful celebration of the forces."

Chris has set up a charity called BRAVE which supports veterans.
