THE St John Ambulance Community Roadshow rolls in to Freeport on Friday to celebrate National Volunteers' Week 2016.

Volunteers from the UK's leading first aid charity will be at the shopping village on June 3 between 10am and 6pm to explain more about what they do.

The team, who will be located outside Nike during the day, will also be giving free demonstrations of a variety of essential first aid techniques that could save someone's life.

Clare Ryan, Unit Manager of St John Ambulance Cadets in Braintree, said: "Volunteering for St John Ambulance is very fulfilling and it is an incredible feeling to know that you have been trained as a first aider with the potential to be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

"National Volunteers' Week is a great opportunity for all organisations with volunteer teams to celebrate the work of these individuals who give up their time for free to help others.

"I hope that visitors to our event will get a really good taste of what volunteering with us is like and will even consider joining their local unit and start training as a life saver."

National Volunteers Week runs from June 1 to June 12.
