WITHAM MP Priti Patel welcomed the official announcement of a series of new measures to help the most disadvantaged in society during the Queen’s speech last week.

New measures will be introduced by the government to support children in the care system, standards in education will be raised and there will also be further investment in the National Citizen Service to encourage more young people to take part.

A British Bill of Rights will also be brought forward.

Mrs Patel said: “The Conservative government is committed to delivering opportunities for everyone and this Queen’s Speech builds on our strong record in office promoting social mobility.

"Our programme for the next year will help transform the life chances of some of the most disadvantaged in society and give them new opportunities to fulfil their potential.”
