A NEW centre manager has been appointed to work in the Newlands Centre in Witham.

Lorne Campbell, who is also CEO of Witham Boy's Brigade, was appointed the role as New River Retail, who manages the space, saw the need for someone on the ground.

Witham Chamber of Commerce said they were very pleased for Mr Campbell to be involved and they look forward to working with him to improve the shopping centre and move it forward.

Mr Campbell is now speaking to retailers and residents about what they would like to see happen in the centre.

He said: "Having someone on the ground will be very useful. I think it is a great opportunity to have someone local who knows the area and knows the opportunities and needs of retailers.

"I know some of the business owners already, so my primary job will be to help the retailers who are already there, as well as making use of the empty spaces and getting long term lets in there.

"Also the customers come first and we need to make sure they have a good shopping experience. I will be asking people what they want to see in there making better use of the space."
