Witham's Town Mayor will be celebrating the end of his civic year in style as he attends a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
On Tuesday, May 24, Bill Rose and his wife Susan will attend the Queen's annual party.
Councillor Rose said he was thrilled to have been invited.
He said: "Various people within the community get nominated to attend the garden party and I received an invitation which was a lovely surprise.
"It will be a great way to finish off my term as Town Mayor.
"Whether we are able to meet the Queen is another question, but it will be nice to finish off the civic year with Her Majesty.
"I have met Prince Philip many years ago but I have never met the Queen before, it would be an absolute delight to be able to speak to her."
