A BUNGALOW development has been named in honour of a former chairman of Braintree Council.

The access road to the development of five bungalows has been named Millam Way after Allan Millam MBE.

Greenfields Community Housing opened the development alongside two bungalows near Arnhem Grove and two on Bailey Bridge Road.

Mr Millam was also a Greenfields board member, magistrate and chairman of Crossroads Care and The Tabor Centre for disabled adults in Braintree.

Some of the bungalows, which were opened on Friday, April 22, are adapted to suit disabled people.

Phil Adams, Greenfields’ Chief Executive, said: “We are so proud to be able to offer people homes that suit their needs and help them to feel safe, comfortable and independent.

"It’s an honour to be able to name the development after Allan, who was an inspiration to all who knew him. He showed us all that disability was no obstacle to giving outstanding service to the community."
