THIS shocking video shows a man brazenly waving two knives during a dispute in Braintree town centre.

The man, captured wearing a grey tracksuit, short hair and a man bag, was seen branding two knives during an argument with two security staff outside The Bull in Market Place, Braintree.

Footage of the incident, filmed by an anonymous resident early on Saturday morning, captures the two bouncers trying to calm the situation down.

One bouncer can be heard saying: “You’re cool, now put them on the floor.”

The unidentified man with the knives replies: “I said to you earlier me and you were cool yeah.”

The bouncers respond by saying: “Why are you coming around with knives then?”

The armed man then swears and claims he had been involved in a dispute but had not done anything wrong.

Braintree has remained largely free of late night violence over the last year, following a series of nasty incidents in 2014.

James Cleverly, MP for Braintree, said: “I know that the police take these crimes very seriously and I have made it clear that I will keep in regular contact with them to ensure that this remains the case.”

Essex Police is investigating whether the incident was linked to an assault on a woman earlier that evening.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “At about 12.15am on April 16, police were contacted with reports of a disturbance in Market Place, in which a man was seen with knives.

“Police attended and detained a man, who was searched. No knives were found and no other offences were disclosed at that time.”

“Witnesses who have yet to contact police are asked to call 101.”
