RESIDENTS in a small village are horrified at a homeowner’s decision to demolish a small bungalow and build a house that looks like “McDonald’s.”

Planning permission for the unusual looking building in desirable Felsted was granted by Uttlesford Council in November 2014 after owners Mr and Mrs Freedman applied to demolish the quaint bungalow that once stood there.

The house is mostly on one level with a two-storey section in the centre of the building and the original bungalow was bought with the intention of developing the site into a family home for the couple to live with their three children.

A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “There was a nice bungalow with a large garden that was well cared for by an elderly cou- ple.

“After they died the place was sold and demolished.

“Now in its place being built is a dwelling that can only be described as McDonald’s.

“It’s surrounded by open fields and can be seen from half-a-mile away.

“How Uttlesford council approved it is beyond me.

“It’s so out of place in the surrounding area and my fear is other such approvals could turn a large part of Essex into these ugly constructions.

“I am just worried that if a council gives approval to that in the mid- dle of open beautiful countryside, then there will be more plans put through for ugly properties like this one.”
