PRIMARY school children took part in a one mile walk and run to raise money for Sport Relief.
Pupils at Great Bradfords Primary School, in Marlborough Road, Braintree, dressed up in sports gear and football kits for the charity event on Friday.
More than 90 people also turned out on Sunday for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile held at Braintree Sport and Health Club.
Ollie the Octopus, the mascot of centre managers Fusion Lifestyle, was on hand to cheer the runners.
The centre also offered free tennis and badminton activities alongside various group exercise classes.
Clare Popperwell, sport and community development manager at Fusion Lifestyle, said, “It was a fantastic day.
“Watching the community come together to support such a great cause was brilliant.
“We feel very proud knowing that the money raised here today will help people living unimaginably tough lives right here in Braintree across the rest of the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.”
