CHILDREN have been real superheroes helping their teacher raise money for charity.

Pupils at Beckers Green Primary School in Braintree dressed up as their favourite superheroes to support Lisa Christian, their year 1 teacher who is running the London Marathon next month.

From the day the children helped her raise more than £2,000 for Children with Cancer UK.

Mrs Christian, who teaches at the school in Beckers Green Road, said: “The children have been absolutely overwhelmed with excitement about dressing up, we had a big assembly about it so they know the money they are raising is going to help children.

“Their effort has been amazing and we have had some really great costumes.

“I have worked with children who have cancer and just being in a school makes you realise the effect it has on families.”

Children with Cancer UK has a superhero theme, so the children had a superhero colouring competition and took part in superhero based activities throughout the day.

They dressed up on Friday, March 11.
