THE NEW owners of a bespoke clothing boutique have combined their passion for fashion and recycling to create something special.

Theresa Finglaff and Sandy Murphy took over The Dressing Room in Witham at the end of last year, and are in the process of setting up a new service.

The shop in Witham has had two previous owners, but Mrs Finglaff, 54, and Mrs Murphy, 52, are looking to give the business a total makeover.

As well as refurbishing the shop, they have plans to set up a bespoke wardrobe service, visiting people’s homes to advise them on recycling old clothes.

Mrs Finglaff said: “We have a real burning interest in fashion and recycling. The opportunity here is we both love vintage and we wanted to give a little empowerment to women who can have one-off clothing.

“There are so many high street shops that are in competition and no woman wants to be seen at a special occasion wearing the same outfit as someone else.”

The pair act as agents, selling on old clothes people bring in, and splitting any profits in half with the seller.

Mrs Finglaff said: “It feels like an Aladdin’s cave walking in, it’s like a child going into a sweet shop.

“We are in the process of doing a shop refurb, turning it into a French boudoir, and we are setting up a bespoke consultation service in people’s homes and personal shopper experience for special occasions.

“The biggest satisfaction is seeing the faces of women when they try on an outfit and look beautiful, and leave the shop feeling happy.”

They are holding an official launch party at the shop on Saturday, February 27 from 10am until 7pm.

They are also holding a fashion show at Crofters Wine Bar in Witham on Monday, May 9 from 6.30pm until 8.30pm. The proceeds will go to the Brainwave charity for children.
