STUDENTS from Tabor Academy are fundraising to go on a volunteering trip to Africa.

Chloe Andrews, 15, and five of her friends are trying to raise £8,000 over the next few years.

Miss Andrews, from Kings Road in Braintree, said: “I have always wanted to go to Africa and volunteer with the children, we found a website where we can go and volunteer but we have to be 17 so in the meantime we are raising the money to go.

“They aren’t as privileged and fortunate as us and we think everyone should be given a chance.

“We will be doing drama and music lessons with them, as well as other activities.”

Their first event is a princess, prince, pirate and superhero tea party, for children under 15.

It will be held at Glebe Hall in Glebe Avenue, Braintree, on Saturday, February 20.

There will be a bouncy castle, arts and crafts tables, face painting and more.

The other five students raising money include Sadie Ellis, Janie Theobald, Holly Harmer, Courtney Riley and Luke Seeley.
