A SHOP in Witham has raised hundreds for the British Heart Foundation.
Tesco in The Grove Shopping Centre kept customers entertained with singing and a sponsored silence to raise money for the charity’s national ‘Wear It Beat It’ event on Friday, February 5.
Staff member Darrel was singing and trading manager Paul had a sponsored silence, with colleagues keen to keep him quiet.
The charity funds thousands of research projects around the UK and fights for better services for heart patients.
Daniel Everett, fresh food manager for Tesco, said: “We managed to raise just over £500 on the day.
“I definitely think the customers enjoyed the music.
“We raised most of the money from Darrel who was singing and people were saying how it created a lovely atmosphere and some were singing along.”
