TEACHERS got in the Christmas spirit by making fools of themselves for an academy’s annual Christmas music video.

New Rickstones Academy pupils sat down to Christmas dinner last Wednesday and watched the first screening of the video, which they hope will get 10,000 hits on YouTube.

Staff donned their Christmas jumpers to mime and dance along to this year’s song, Santa Clause Is Coming To Town.

Dean Stokes, learning technology manager at New Rickstones and Maltings academies, directed the Christmas films for both schools, which have since been posted online for everyone to enjoy.

He said: “This had the same brief as the Maltings video - it features a lot of teachers making fools out of themselves.

“It’s the school’s first Christmas with Mr Lee as head and his baby daughter was in the video, which got a lot of “aahs.”

“There was a mystery teacher dressed as Santa and it will be interesting to see if students figured out who it is.

“Mr Hiscox was also in there dressed as an elf, which is funny because he is quite short.”

He added: “In terms of anticipation, it is the best year ever and the video created a great sense of excitement.”

Damian Lee, head of academy, said: “This is a great opportunity for students to see their teachers and staff in a different way.

“Everyone is really keen to get involved and it’s really popular with parents and the community.”
