Legends were firing on all cylinders in their Braintree Open Darts League Knockout Cup tie against Notley Sports.

Barry Lynn opened for Legends with a 3-0 win and that was followed by a 2-1 win for Ernie Holden and a 3-0 win for Chris Holden to give an 8-1 advantage.

Dan Taylor added another two legs to Legends’ tally with a 2-1 win and with Chris Cook winning his game 2-1, Legends eased through to the next round.

It was closer in the tie between Swiss Bell and Retreat, though, with the result going to the last game.

Peter Webb opened with a 2-1 win for the Retreat, before the Swiss responded with a 2-1 win for Lee Ford, but with James Chapman winning his game 2-1, the Retreat held a one-leg lead.

Graham Roffey won his game 3-0 to put the Swiss ahead but that lead was cancelled by the Retreat’s Andy Camp, who won his game 3-0 and Kirby’s 2-1 win for the Bell, put the teams level going into the final game.

That resulted in a 2-1 win for Dave Saunders as the Retreat had the 11 legs needed to progress.

The Plate game between Eagle A and Welsh Princess was also a close encounter.

Matt Last’s 2-1 win gave the Eagle an early lead but 2-1 wins for Brendan Hand and Phil Hume gave the Welsh a one-leg advantage.

Kelvin Byrne chalked up a 3-0 win over Rob Camp in the fourth game to put the Eagle back in front but a 3-0 win in the fifth for the Bruce Mawdsley gave the Welsh the advantage once more.

A 3-0 win for Chris Jordan in the sixth left the Eagle looking for one leg from the final game and the Welsh all three. Barry Old and Andi Thomas stepped up to the oche and although Thomas recorded a 2-1 win, the one leg that Old secured sent the Eagle through.
