Greenfields Community Housing is working with Essex Police to carry out annual workshops in local schools, teaching children about the consequences of carrying knifes and of bullying.
The interactive workshops, part of Greenfields’ ‘Think Safe, Be Safe’ campaign, are being carried out at nine schools in the Braintree area, including Notley Green Junior School, Terling Juniors and St Andrews Junior School in Great Yeldham.
They include Weapons Awareness, Internet Safety and Street Safety.
James Martin, Greenfields’ Positive Engagement Co-ordinator, said: “We want the workshops to raise young peoples’ awareness of different types of criminal activity and the possible consequences of their actions if they break the law. We also want them to be able to recognise negative influences and to feel confident to walk away if a situation arises.”
