A doctor has praised the actions of a PCSO and Pc after they saved his life.

PCSO Brett Fleming and Pc Richard Barker were commended for their actions at Essex Police’s bravery awards ceremony last Thursday in Chelmsford.

During the Tour de France, they saw Dr Andrew Hildrey, who used to practice at The Freshwell Health Centre, in Finchingfield, collapse and helped bring him back to life after his heart stopped.

Dr Hildrey was walking from the surgery back to a friend’s house in Finchingfield to watch the famous cycle race on the television.

However, he suddenly collapsed after suffering a heart attack whilst in the middle of the crowd.

“PCSO Brett Fleming was only about 10 yards away when I collapsed,” Dr Hildrey said.

“He noticed that my heart had stopped and began giving CPR.

“He immediately knew what to do and did it.

“All credit to him."
