The A12 between Colchester and Chelmsford is set to be widened to three lanes as part of a £2 billion package of road improvements for the East of England.

Highways England is meeting with suppliers and stakeholders today and tomorrow to set out how more than £2 billion of Government investment will be spent to improve the capacity and condition of roads.

Plans include major improvements on the M11, A5 and M1, A12, A14, A47 and A428.

In addition, 17 new cycle paths will be built including along parts of the A12.
