Airport plans to reduce noise with new GPS system for planes
A CONSULTATION has been launched about reducing aircraft noise for people living near Stansted Airport.
Planes taking off on the ‘Clacton’ and ‘Detling’ routes have been involved in a trial using a new Global Positioning System (GPS) to stop them veering off course.
The technology could also be used for planes taking off on the second Clacton route which passes over Stebbing, Rayne and Great Notley.
Although this means fewer people would be affected by noise overall, the number of planes could potentially be concentrated in smaller areas.
It will run until November 27 at stanstedairport.com/consultation.
