A woman suffering with a debilitating condition is transforming the ice bucket challenge into something with a fiery kick.
Simone de Monerri, 27, of Hatfield Road, Witham, has suffered from Myalgic Encephalopathy, ME, since a bout of glandular fever in 2011.
Miss de Monerri, along with nine other sufferers, in an online support group, has started the Chilli ME Challenge.
It is hoped this latest craze, which asks people to film themselves while eating some hot chilli, will take over from the popular ice bucket challenge and generate a wealth of support in the form of donations that will be used at a research centre in Columbia University, New York.
