A TEENAGE thug has been given another chance at rehabilitation after carrying out a string of assaults.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was made the subject of a youth rehabilitation order after he admitted assaulting a man in Braintree on July 14.

When he carried out the attack, the youth was already subject to a rehabilitation order for assaulting another man in Braintree on February 10, and a man and a woman on March 15 and damaging doors at a home, a court heard.

Two days later he carried out another assault in the town.

He was also convicted of a racially aggravated assault on a man in Chelmsford on December 8 last year and another assault in Braintree on December 15.

Last September, the teen smashed up a school classroom, and he went on to damage property at another home in February this year.

Colchester Youth Court handed the boy a ten day reparation order, which means he must write a letter of apology, apologise to the victim in person or do work in the community.

He will also have to attend four sessions of a programme about crime and consequences.
